Ray Pinkstaff founded Pinkstaff, Simpson & Headrick, P.C. in 1991. Ray is a 1976 graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He received his law degree from the University of Tennessee in 1979. Ray is originally from Georgia. With over thirty years of experience in taxation, Ray specializes in trust, estate and gift tax planning, asset protection, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, and complex tax issues related to strategic planning. In their free time Ray and his wife enjoy spending time watching their high school and college age children play sports. They also can be caught on their boat enjoying tailgating on football weekends as part of the "Vol Navy". Ray is active in numerous professional, civic and charitable organizations and served as the head coach for his son's high school wrestling team.
Jackie Simpson co-founded Pinkstaff, Simpson & Headrick, P.C. in 1991. He is a 1988 graduate of The University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Jackie is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. With over twenty two tax seasons completed, Jackie has accumulated a broad range of experience in various areas of taxation including corporations, partnerships, individuals, and employee benefit plans. He specializes in several specific sectors including automobile dealerships, medical practices, retirement planning and compliance and financial planning for wealthy individuals. Jackie is married with two daughters and a son and enjoys spending his free time coaching youth sports, cooking authentic Cajun dishes, boating on Fort Loudon Lake and playing golf with friends. He also enjoys college and pro football sports following the UT Vols, LSU Tigers as well as the Tennessee Titans. Jackie is also active in several civic and professional organizations throughout the Knoxville area including the AICPA and the Tennessee Society of Public Accountants. Jackie and his family attend Concord United Methodist Church.
Scott Headrick joined Pinkstaff, Simpson & Headrick, P.C. in 1996. Scott is a 1996 graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Within the firm, Scott’s emphasis is on talent acquisition, internal staff management and development and workflow optimization, business and individual tax compliance, planning, and advisory services. He is a member of the AICPA and Tennessee Society of Public Accountants. Scott has experience in various areas of taxation with a focus on automobile dealerships, construction industry, real estate development, retail, cost segregation analysis and entity selection. Scott summarizes his client approach stating that "assisting our clients with tax compliance and detailed planning for their long term goals makes my job fulfilling. It is my belief and goal to convey to each prospective and existing client that our firm will provide the utmost level of service and support in meeting their financial needs." Originally from and a current resident of nearby Maryville, Scott is married with one son and one daughter. He is an avid Titans football and UT sports fan and enjoys playing golf, fishing and watching movies with his family in their theater room of his home. Each year Scott and the other partners enjoy visiting the best sports towns in America to watch a MLB game in such cities as Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Chicago with many more planned. His favorite vacation spot would be any beach in the Gulf of Mexico. He is a member of East Maryville Baptist Church.
Anna Lavoi joined Pinkstaff, Simpson & Headrick, P.C. in 2003 after previously working with a well know Knoxville CPA firm. She graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She also completed her Masters of Accountancy degree with a concentration in tax from UT. She is a certified specialist in Estate Planning. Anna lives in Seymour. With over 20 years experience in accounting, Anna has a wide range of knowledge she shares with her clients. The firm often leverages her expertise in tax research, trusts and estates to ensure a strategic lifetime financial plan can be put into place for their clients. Anna gets the most enjoyment from helping and serving her clients, working with numbers and being part of the PSH family like environment. In her spare time, Anna enjoys watching her son play college football and spending time with her daughter. You will often find her in the summer enjoying boating and soaking in the rays on the Tennessee lakes. She loves to read, do jazzercise classes or relax watching a movie.
Brandon Leffew joined Pinkstaff, Simpson & Headrick, P.C. in 2000. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and also completed his Masters of Accountancy degree with a concentration in tax. He is a member of the AICPA and Tennessee Society of Public Accountants. Brandon is originally from and currently resides in Kingston Tennessee. Although he deals with a wide range of industries, Brandon’s client focus within the firm is on real estate, automotive and retail business sectors. He has great depth of experience in tax compliance along with business and tax planning. Brandon states "Tax compliance and planning present great challenges in this fast-paced and ever-changing economic environment while also providing tremendous opportunities to provide quality service to our clients. To me, that is what makes this job exciting and fulfilling." Married to Kandi Leffew, Brandon has three children, daughters Keira & Kylie and son Brock. His favorite hobbies include following UT sports, hunting, fishing and all sports in general.
A long time East Tennessee resident, Lesley graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. During college, she was the recipient of the Price Waterhouse Scholarship and the Ohio Valley Accountants’ Association “Ernest C. Smith Accounting Scholarship.” Lesley had an extensive eighteen year experience record in public accounting practice before joining Pinkstaff, Simpson & Headrick, P.C. Lesley has extensive experience with partnerships and pass-through entities. Her areas of focus include business and individual tax compliance and planning, supporting client accounting operations and accounting and special allocations for partnerships and limited liability companies. She approaches each endeavor with a positive attitude and encourages her clients and co-workers through her acts of service and leading by example.
Lesley enjoys spending quality time with her family. Whether at a soccer game or dance recital, she enjoys the multiple sporting and musical events engaged in by her four children. She is an active member in her church and her favorite activities involve hiking, biking and reading.
Darryl Richards joined Pinkstaff, Simpson & Headrick, P.C. in 2003 after spending time at a large regional firm. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He also completed his Masters of Accountancy degree with a concentration in tax from UT. Focused on helping individuals and business owners, Darryl specializes in tax planning, compliance and advisory services. He is a member with the AICPA and Tennessee Society of Public Accountants keeping him abreast of current accounting strategies and approaches. Darryl has two children and is a resident of Knoxville. He enjoys UT football, hiking, golf and spending time with family and friends.
Grace Gower joined Pinkstaff, Simpson & Headrick, P.C. in 2003. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Serving as manager of the Small Business Services department, Grace leads a staff of five employees in helping small businesses keep track of daily and monthly accounting books, filing their business taxes and keeping payroll cycles accurate and up to date. Grace also provides consulting services, is a QuickBooks Pro Advisor and has vast knowledge in helping small new businesses get off ground to a successful start. Grace and her husband David have two children and reside in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Stephen Daves joined the firm in 2011 as a partner in the Audit and Assurance Department. He has more than 18 years of accounting experience, including audit, assurance, tax return preparation, tax planning, business consulting and accounting assistance services. Stephen earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Stephen is originally from and a current resident of Maryville. He is married with two daughters. Stephen is an avid UT sports fan and enjoys playing golf and spending time with family. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. Stephen is a graduate of the Leadership Blount class of 2004. He has been active with the Maryville City Schools Foundation Board, United Way of Blount County, the Blount County Chamber of Commerce and with First United Methodist Church of Maryville.
